To experience God’s will, we each need a path to guide us through experiencing God events and through the longer journey. When I was nineteen I devoted myself to understanding the Bible because I believed (and still believe) it was the foundation for experiencing God’s will. It would guide my experiences with God and my overall journey. To shorten your learning curve with the Bible, I’ve developed the Four Pillars System, which I’d like to introduce to you:
Part 1 – Behold Your God
These posts explain a lot of mysteries in the Bible, such as: What and who is God? – so you can relate to Him. Why did He create the universe? – so you know what we, and all things are made of. Why is earth so important to Him? – so you can embrace your life’s purpose with confidence and joy. What are rational sentient beings? – so you realize how powerful your choices are. How does free will fit in with God’s sovereignty? – so you don’t get tripped up in trying to work with God. Is God good? – so you know how to get the evil things out of your daily experience. How can we learn to trust Him? – so you walk with Him in power. What does He want us to do with our lives? – so you no longer doubt your place in life. Does God, or did God, ever change His mind about that? – so you understand that He values your input into His greater plan. What is God’s Main Thing? – so you get up each day with drive and happiness to know your life is worth living!
Part 2 – Your Awesome Human Nature
These posts cover the human condition, explaining why our lives are not going so well. We will look at (a) what normal human nature is, (b) how we got out of sorts with God, (c) how “sin” is our main problem but it is not what we typically think, (d) why we feel out of sorts within ourselves, (e) why we are obviously off kilter with one another, and therefore (f) why we made a mess of the planet. We’ll talk about our five enemies, which one is the first one we need to overcome, why that is such a hard thing to do, and how to go about doing it in the easiest ways possible! (We’ll talk about the other four enemies and what to do about them in Pillar 4.) When we overcome our main problem and get the mess out of our lives, what comes next?
Part 3 – Desire Is Your Core Motivation
There is a natural attraction factor that God built into every atom of the universe. Gravity is one dimension of this attraction factor – what goes up must come down, right! The workings of electricity is another expression of attraction. So is human romance! But there are other dimensions of this attraction factor which are not so obvious, and not so simple to understand as gravity, electricity, and romance. These posts will explain how the “kingdom of God/heaven” is the Bible’s way of talking about how we get into harmonious flow with this attraction factor. You will find out that Scripture actually commands you to get all your good desires to come true … God’s way. You’ll also find out that when your good desires come into being, the doors are opened wide for God’s rule to come into this world, making it a better place! And that leads us to…
Part 4 – Your Life’s Purpose
You sense you’re on a journey in life. But what are you here to be, do, and have. You have a purpose as a Christian, and part of it is to help win a war. These posts focus on overcoming the other enemies that I revealed in Pillar 2. But conquering the world isn’t just about defeating enemies. It is also about making the world a better place … for everyone! God has given you powers to help you do His will on earth as it is in heaven. I’ll explain them to you through the posts in Pillar 4.
Are these posts theoretical or practical? Some of both. I’ve designed these posts to help you understand the message of the Bible, so they are mostly theoretical. However, to get these theories to land on earth and make a difference in your life, I end mosts posts with ideas about how to put their rich content into practice in your daily walk with God.
Also, the posts are short, so it should only take you five to ten minutes to read each one, but a few more minutes to reflect on their meaning. And the suggestions for practical application are easy to do. Jesus said His yoke is easy and His burden is light. I kept that in mind as I wrote each post.
